Drosophila brain (EM connectome, digital whole brain model)

The authors created a complete leaky integrate-and-fire computational model of the entire Drosophila brain on the basis of an EM connectome and neurotransmitter identities. They demonstrate that the model’s behaviours can accuractely predict the behaviour of biological Drosophila, such as activation of sugar-sensing ‘neurons’ in the digital model predicting biological neurons that respond to tastes.
“We show here that, in the intermediate complexity of the entire Drosophila brain, a simple connectome-based computational model can reliably describe entire sensorimotor transformations from sensory input to descending or motor output.”
